Come Capture the Light and Life of Venice, Italy

Campo Sant'Agnese © John Singer Sargent
Venice, the city on water most famous for its canals and brightly colored floating buildings and boats, is a painters haven.
Join us in learning how to quickly capture the light and feel of the place through oil sketches that can then be taken back to the studio and developed into larger more completed works.
We will stay as locals in newly renovated and spacious apartments in the heart of the city in order to capture it all.
We will reserve 6 hours a day for painting with optional nocturne and sunset painting sessions. I will guide you step-by-step each day in creating completed oil sketches so that you have all the information you need to remember that singular moment in time. We will also have a free day in the middle of the week for you to shop, sightsee or take an optional walking art and history tour of the city.
Mediums Offered and Skill Levels: You can bring oils, watercolors, gouache, drawing materials or acrylics.
We recommend that painters with some basic experience of painting or drawing attend, but beginners to more advanced painters are welcome.
Helen Beacham will be teaching watercolor, gouache and drawing. I will be teaching painting in oils and acrylics.
Please see Helen's work and website for more about watercolor instruction by clicking here.
Cost: $1,900. $500 will hold your place in the workshop with the remaining balance of $1,400 due by August 1.
*see below for cancellation & refud policy
Not just for painters: Bring a spouse or friend along and share a bed for just $800 dollars more. We are more than happy to arrange for tours and personalized courses on the island for our extra non painting visitors. (discount applies to non-painting visitors before May 1).
Included in your tuition: Single bed (or double for couples in a private room) in a shared room in an apartment, continental breakfast, two dinners in local restaurants, 6 days of full-time instruction including a day painting trip to Burano island, turps and paper towels.
We are happy to pair you up with another painter, so don't hesitate to come alone.
*Airfare, lunch and 6 dinners are not included in the tuition price.
