Ancient Tower, Appia Antica

This ancient Roman tower runs along the Appian Way just on the outskirts of Rome. The longest straight road for centuries, this is a treasure trove for a painter or historian. Lying at the edge of the city, escaping to this part of the city is like stepping back in time. When the tower was restored, I went to paint it with our local Rome urban sketchers group.
