In the pre-recorded class, we work with experimental techniques in drawing. Meant for all skill levels, these classes will take you through learning to free up the way you see and approach drawing.
We work mainly in pen, pencil, and markers and each class has a theme. You do not need any special materials! Each class is 1.5 – 2 hours and includes guided times exercises that you can draw along to.
What’s included in this class:
Lesson 1: Blind and modified contour drawing with both dominant and non-dominant hands. We end by working drawing with both hands simultaneously.
This lesson opens us up to learning to observe closely and experiencing a new way of drawing while using our non-dominant hand.
Lesson 2: Memory Drawing, Fast & Slow
In this lesson, we focus on learning to expand and hone in on memory and how to better use it while drawing. Memory is a fundamental skill in drawing and can expand the possibilities for further drawing projects.
The last portion of the class is dedicated to drawing fast and slow, working quickly to capture a scene, and then slowly adding more information. Varying our pace in drawing and learning when to go fast and when to slow down helps us see the big picture first and hone in on detail only toward the end when we have more time.
Lesson 3: Composition and Framing, Positive and Negative Shapes
In this lesson, we work on making interesting and dynamic compositions and introduce drawing inside a frame. We then work with negative and positive shapes to compose by balancing these light and dark shapes.
Lesson 4: Working in a Series
We end the class with this important skill, working in a series. Learning to explore an idea or subject fully can lead to years of work and endless possibilities for your work. This class is a guided exploration in working quickly in a series exploring 1 subject in an extended way.
