Sacred Moments
I already said that Umbria is a wonderful place to paint.Not only that, but it’s full of hidden gems.One of them is a 13th century Franciscan monastery founded by St. Francis of Assisi called La Scarzuola. Now, it’s not just a monastery anymore, it’s waaay more than that. It became the playground, so to speak, of Italian architect Tomaso Buzzi who designed and partially constructed a small city of theaters on the property between the late 1950s until the late 1970s.

It is quiet and peaceful with the large clouds floating by, I just was called to paint this place.
I only had a few hours to capture this while the students from the Umbria workshop were on a tour of the grounds. Luckily they let me paint, usually this opportunity isn’t permitted to anyone. What a privilege and a joy.
