Day 35: Saturday Morning on the Mugnone
This morning while waiting for the bus, I was looking at this. I had the thought, “Wow, that would be great to paint,” and then kept waiting for the bus. It then occurred to me that I had my easel and I am doing a painting every single day, so why was I about to pass up the chance to paint here? Maybe because I was a little shy to stand at the bus stop and paint, but in the end it’s cool to paint something I like and maybe feel a little strange to be standing at the bus stop painting.. I’m learning how much it pays to take my easel literally everywhere! The best part about this place is that it is right next to a little kiosk selling flowers. The owner of the flower shop was very sweet and introduced everyone to me. He even offered to put my painitng in the window to have it for sale to passers by. Plus I got to smell the profume of lillies and other such flowers while painting here. Not bad! This little river, while it doesn’t have the fame of and is much punier than Florence’s other river, the Arno, is really beautiful in places. It mostly runs through neighborhoods and has little foot bridges crossing it, it’s somehow more charming and intimate than the Arno. I’ve thought about painting here many times, like with so many things that I’ve wanted to paint and now have since starting this project. So, today I really learned to just go for it and not wait. When I see a painting, just set up and paint. Who knows, the light might never be right again.!To buy or view this or other paintings from the 100 day project on my website, click here https://kellymedford.com/collections/25604All paitnings are 6×8″, unframed, painted on birch and cost $100 + shipping.
