Day 36: Grapefruit on a Plate
Today’s painting doesn’t have much to do with Italy in particular, apart from the fact that most people eat citrus from Sicily all winter long. I’ve become addicted to grapefruits and even crave them. Today I didn’t have as much enthusiasm for painting, I’ll just be honest (even though my friend whose name I won’t mention advised me against such boughts of honesty..). It was a strange gray day with an almost smoky fog/haze hanging over the city. I went for a long walk in the haze in celebration of the fact that today was pedestrian only day in Florence and no cars were allowed into the center of the city until after 6 p.m. I just didn’t want to paint the somberness of the thick air today, even if it is the weather suited to Florence.. So I chose to add a little color to the day, and it was actually fun to get to use a lot of strong reds, yellows and organges, because usually I spend so much time trying to tone down these colors, so for once I didn’t have to! Happy Sunday and tomorrow it’s back to more serious work..To buy or view paintings from the 100 day project, follow this link to my website www.kellymedford.com/worksAll paintings from this project are 6×8″, painted on birch, unframed and cost $100 + $15 shipping. You can pass this project on to a friend by sending them to the blog at www.kellymedford.blogspot.com or they can subscribe to receive the daily enewsletter here https://kellymedford.com/email-newsletterI love hearing from all of you, so thanks for all of your emails and comments, fantastic!
