Day 43: Rollerskate

Day 43: Rollerskate

What has gotten into me painting these objects, I really can’t say, but I am having fun. I fouind these rollerskates and bought them just before my birthday so that I could go skating in the park. I wasn’t as good as when I was a kid, but I’m sure it will come back with practice.I would have painted the pair, but my canvas is just too small, but you get the idea with just the one. This really was fun to paint, even if it didn’t start out that way. This is the second painting, I wiped out the first one. There is something psycological about Sunday where I think that I shouldn’t work or do anything except go for a walk, do laundry and clean the house. Where did this idea come from anyway? I made a lazy start on the first painting and it showed, there was just no way to recover it, so I took a nap and then got serious about my second attempt and here you have the result. The collective ideas we have about work are funny, they’re just some kind of programming, like that we shouldn’t work on Sunday. When you actually enjoy your work, why not work on Sunday and make time for the other things as well? This is the problem I encounter, managing my time to have all that I want happen in a day. There’s time enough in a day to paint, relax, clean and do whatever else I can imagine. I think I’ll have to change the way I think about Sunday. You can buy this painting here for $100 here on my website. You can also see and buy other paintings from the 100 day project here. All paintings from this project are 6×8”, painted on birch, unframed and cost $100 (+ $15 shipping). You can share this project with someone who you think would enjoy it by having them subscribe to receive the daily E Newsletter or they can follow on the Blog.
