Day 56: Sleepy Saturday in the Kitchen
I’m calling this one Sleepy Saturday, because that’s exactly what I am today, sleepy! It’s been looking like it’s going to rain for the last 2 days now, and today was the perfect day to stay in bed and read a book or watch a movie. The next best thing after staying in bed (since that was not an option..) was going to visit with friends.
As I was painting this I realized how slowly I was painting! One long slow brushstroke at a time, as if the heavy cloud cover was having an effect on my hand. I don’t usually paint this way, slow and steady. If the paintbrush were a piece of chalk on the blackboard it would have been squeeking away all morning long.
As always I’m glad I got up and out and going instead of staying in bed, in the end I feel better for it, even if I am a little sleepy.
I love going to visit this house and the kitchen is great with it’s little balcony. That’s a funny thing in Florence, you never know what you’ll encounter walking into someone’s building. You could enter the most spectacular apartment in the dumpiest looking building with a lush beautiful garden and you never would have suspected from the street, it’s all hidden behind the foreboding walls. There’s an endless world of discovery in this small city.
