Day 58: View from Ponte all’Indiano

Day 58: View from Ponte all’Indiano

Today I remembered that years ago I met a man here in florence who did an entire show of paintings from various points along the Arno. Now I can understand why. It’s a subject that I have yet to tire of and on a day like today where I felt like I needed some peace and quiet and wasn’t up for painting in the city, the Arno is where I go.

This morning was a battle. It’s another gray day and I did everything but get my things together to go and paint; laundry, dishes, etc. Now I’m sure no one else has this experience also widely known as procrastination, but I was having a huge bought of it today. I felt sluggish and unmotivated, inpiration for painting was the farthest thing from my mind. But I did get myself out the door and decided that what I needed was a good long bike ride. Getting my blood pumping I started to wake up. I went all the way out of the city and just kept going. When the trail came to an end I stopped and looked around, this was the view from up above the river at the dead end in the road.

In the end I was suprised by how really inspired I was to paint. This view was just gorgeous and was happy to have found it. It seems that I will never conquer or rid myself of procrastination, but I can go ahead and paint anyway.
