Day 72: Afternoon at the Table
Something about the simplicity of this scene is what made me want to paint it. Originally there were tons of little objects, details, etc. in this composition, but as I painted I just eliminated them finding something more interesting about the lack of detail than the addition of it.I seem to keep gravitating towards simplicity weather it be a single object or like here just the main idea of the composition rather than every detail. I want to keep exploring this, I think that there’s something in this that keeps me fascinated: the presence of absence. For now this is a common thread running through my paintings. I guess it’s no coincidence then that there are no figures in my paintings. I really haven’t even considered painting people yet. Well, there are still a few paintings left, so who knows what will happen between now and the end of the project. I may even paint some figures, I really don’t know what to expect! Thanks for following and I look forward to sharing tomorrow’s painting with you.To buy today’s painting, click here.
