Day 83: At the End of Alton Road
I can’t believe how beautiful of a day it was today. In hopes of finding just the most amazing thing to paint, I set out driving. I drove and drove and drove some more, but that “perfect” thing just didn’t jump out at me. I had really high expectations you see. I didn’t tell you this, but since it’s the last few weeks of the project I decided that I really want to give it my all, go all out and challenge myself to make the best paintings that I can. Now don’t laugh, but I haven’t stated this for fear of jinxing the whole thing and making really terrible paintings instead. It’s silly really I realized today and just superstitious. If I choose a good composition, take the time to work on it and honestly give it my all, then for me that’s an accomplishment and how I want to conclude the project. To get back to today’s story: after driving I went home with no plan B. Just before turning into my street I saw this and knew that it was today’s painting. It’s amazing, just short of a miracle to me, how each day without fail provides me with something fantastic to paint. And boy am I grateful!I have to admit that this is was one of the most challenging paintings for me because of all the green. Green seems to be the color that we most instinctively react to and know instantly when it’s “off”. Also, just the ins and outs of the trees, I think I could spend days going back and refining even this little painting attempting to clarify the trees. With that said I’m glad I took on the challenge of painting this just because it was a beautiful moment to me. The world is full of these moments and I hope to keep refining my ability to capture them in paint.Thank for for following the project, without you I don’t know that I would be challenging myself in all these ways and really pushing myself to become the painter that I had hoped to be and am in the process of becoming. To buy today’s painting for $100, click here.
