Day 89: In the Suburbs

Day 89: In the Suburbs

I realized today that I’ve never painted in the suburbs. They’re full of interesting spots, this one more abandoned looking than the manicured lawns and shrubs that I think of when I think of the suburbs. It’s fun painting and walking around in a place where everyone else is driving, it’s (I am) unexpected and so a lot of people want to stop and talk. Today I got everything from the usual commentary of how I’m doing, including “looking good” to” what are you looking at?” and I even got one “What are we doing?”. I also got a marriage proposal from the local lawn maintenance man and a little girl who stopped to ask me about painting because she wants to be a painter when she grows up.It’s incredible. I imagined the suburbs to be a dull place where everyone stays in their cars or homes and minds their own business, but instead more people have talked to me here than in the city. Either way I had a fun and funny day and I think I’ll do it again tomorrow. Thanks for following in the adventure of 100 paintings, it really is an adventure!
