Day 91: Laurel in the Clearing
In the middle of the suburbs I found this clearing of what used to be an old home site. I was immediately taken by this little haven and then I saw this laurel. It has to be the tallest laurel I’ve ever seen. I really wanted to paint this, not just because of the unusually tall shrub, but also because of the quiet beauty of this place. Laurel has to be one of the plants that most marks this part of the country, the Carolinas and Tennessee.I felt lucky today to have the chance to paint this, as the rain set in shortly after I finished (I think you can see the raindrops on the painting..). I’ll just be here one more day, and I’m also looking forward to one more painting here. It’s amazing how every place has something to paint, every place is an opportunity.Thank you for following, even in the last days of the project. You’re commitment to following the project has created an unexpected commitment in me to paint, paint, paint and then paint some more. It’s really amazing working this much, I didn’t expect that painting every day would really teach me about discipline in a whole new way along with learning more about painting each time I go to the easel. This is amazing, and even if I’m tired some days I don’t want to stop the momentum gained by painting each and every day.To buy today’s painting, click here.
