Blunders

Oops! Yesterday while out teaching a plein air workshop here in Rome, I had a narrow window of time to get down a small painting. The only problem was that the panel I was painting on was prepared with a clear glue and in my hurried state I painted on the wrong side of the panel (the unprepared side)!Realizing this about halfway into the painting as the paint slowly dragged over the surface instead of gliding on smoothly as it should, I debated what to do.Oh well, I just kept going, realizing that this was just a quick sketch and chance to paint, but that this wouldn’t be a finished painting or one that I could ever sell.Looking Through Ponte Milvio18x24 cmOil on Wood© Kelly MedfordHere’s my unfinished painting from yesterday, I hope you get a good laugh like I did from this one!Check out upcoming 2013 plein air workshops around Italy: https://kellymedford.com/workshops

Never would have known if I hadn’t told you?! Oh well, I’ll have to pay a bit more attention next time.
