Free Online Drawing Classes
Hello from Rome to friends around the world!
I hope that wherever you are and whatever stage you are at of being at home, that you are safe, well, and managing the best you can with the current situation.
Some are having to work full-time and homeschool, some are free-floating, some people are seeing this as a break from the overwhelm of the everyday to-do and some are just feeling anxious and unable to focus and concentrate.
Personally I have gone through so many stages over the past 2 months at home here in Rome, but started hosting online drawing classes in March have been a huge help in remaining calm and feeling connected.
These online classes are a fun, simple, and short sketching get together online where I guide you in some straightforward techniques for sketching with what you’ve got at home. These online classes are for anyone and everyone and NO experience is necessary. All you need to bring to our sketching class is some paper and some pens and/or pencils to draw with. That’s it.
If you would like to join us in sketching together online, the classes meet every Wednesday and Saturday at 4 pm Rome time. The next class will be Wednesday, May 13th. You can find the events listed here on Facebook or you can sign up to join an email list that I send out once a week with the upcoming sketch topics and links to join online.
You can also follow the classes on your own and pick and choose the topics that interest you and fit with your schedule. I have recorded each of the sessions, which can be found here by topic and date recorded on YouTube.
If you enjoy being part of a community, I have also started a Facebook group entitled Sketching Our World: Sketching From Home that I would love for you to be a part of and share sketches, ideas to get and receive feedback.
These sketching classes are free, but if you would like to offer a donation, please feel free to do so here.
We are all doing what we can to hold it together during this time. I hope that art can provide a bit of solace and community. Though it is a small gesture, the power of art is strong and can be healing. I hope that you will join us if you are moved to do so.
Sending you a big virtual hug from Rome,
Kelly
