Afternoon Thunderstorm
Oil on Wood
6 x 8″
Mostly it is clear and sunny here in Rome. So when one thunderstorm after another rolled in all day long, I got excited. The chance to paint a moody sky is always a welcome one.
Being highly optimistic, I ran out to paint in between storms, I could see the next storm coming on the horizon. I was sure I wouldn’t get wet, I didn’t even bring an umbrella.
Sure enough it took me more than just a few minutes to get this down, and the next round of storms rolled in. Thanks to the towering pines I was able to stay relatively dry and finish up this small painting.
