This painting is from a park here in Rome called Villa Gordiani.
Truth be told I return to this park over and over because of the fabulous Roman ruins. To me they’re a marvel, but I never end up painting them. I still have not figured out how to compose a painting from these awkward towering structures that sort of jut into the sky.
I do love to go there for the towering oleanders too which create the most wonderful dappled shade. Dappled shade is something I always make myself practice and something I have yet to master. Someday I’m going to have a dappled shade revelation.
