San Francisco Highlights

San Francisco Highlights

Looking into the sun seems to be the light effect that I preferred while in California. It gives you that smoky gray outline of the buildings on the horizon and those little dots of white where there are windshields and roofs and storefronts glimmering against the sun.

From above on high, this was the San Francisco I had pictured in my mind and wanted to paint. Funnily enough the top of this hill is actually a valley, which I never would have imagined.A man walking by stopped to talk. He was very friendly and we got to talking. He said that San Francisco has 7 hills just like the 7 hills of Rome. (I imagine that San Fran has way more than 7 hills, as does Rome).I loved the couple of days that I had to paint in the city. It seems cool, fun, has great weather, public bathrooms in all of the multitude of parks (whose importance is never to be underestimated), was clean and very civilized.I’m sure many of you out there know the city a million times better than I do, these are just my first impressions.
