Winterscaping
The cold has descended on Rome. Can you tell that I’m obsessed with the weather?Well, mostly because I’m outside everyday and the first thing I do in the morning and before going to bed each night is look at the hour-by-hour forecast to decide when and where to go painting.Winter is beautiful, it gives so much variation in the sky and landscape, something to be appreciated and not lamented.January, Parco degli Acquedotti6×8″Oil on Panel© Kelly Medfordclick here to see or purchase this paintingIt was dark and overcast as I was painting this with occasional light showers. I wanted to capture the gray, or all of those blues with the yellow of the field in contrast. I love this place and its ever changing light. In fact I’ve painted here many times before. I’ll share a couple of my favorites from this same location.Clouds over Frascati, Parco degli Acquedotti6×8″Oil on Panel©Kelly MedordSOLDand another larger canvas painted this past fall is one of my favoritesAutunno, Parco degli Acquedotti50×60 cmOil on Canvas©Kelly Medfordclick here to see or purchase this paintingThis is a special place, at least in my mind. The aqueducts jutting out of the landscape capture my attention and create a wonderful contrast in the open space. The moody winter weather is exciting too, as long as summer comes to relieve us.See other paintings from the streets of Rome herePaint Italy in 2013Upcoming Workshops in Umbria, Rome and Veniceclick here for detailshttp://kellyaskey.fineartstudioonline.com/workshops

January 18, 2013 at 11:48 amI love those rows of trees throughout Italy. Have so many photos of them and have painted them numerous times myself! I always think “who took the time to plant all those like that!?” Fun!

Thank you Carroll, your comment inspires me.
Linda- don’t you love painting in Rome? I know I do and the subject matter is endless, truly. Thank you for following the blog!
