Favorite Places in Rome
What’s your favorite place in Rome? Some of you already know and then some of you are like me, undecided.I’m always adding to and changing my list of favorite places around the city, but surely this place is up there on the list: San Lorenzo.Morning at the Library, San Lorenzo6×8″Oil on Panel© Kelly MedfordSan Lorenzo is a historic, eclectic and extremely lively part of town. It’s chock full of students and older local Romans alike. It’s got a night life, good music, tons of restaurants, the list goes on. It’s a traditionally working class neighborhood and it has that gritty feel to it. It was also probably one of the most heavily bombed places in the city by the Allied troops in World War II- and you can still tell. I’ve always loved hanging out in this part of town and have been telling myself to go and paint there for well over a year now. Today was finally the day.It seems to have been the perfect day too, the light was soft and filtering through the trees. And just in case you were wondering, that’s a cat sitting on the path. This park is full of stray cats like so many parts of Rome.
