Day 38: Repeats
Today back out in the field I was prepared with my mud boots.Although it was raining on and off I just wanted to get out there in between showers. Being inside just causes me to get lazy and the computer work waiting for me was motivation enough to get me gone.Locust in the Field6×8″Oil on Panel© Kelly Medford, 2012This painting didn’t remind me of the usual Roman landscapes, instead when I brought it back to the studio I realized what it reminded me of – Tuscany.Below is a larger painting done in a field in Tuscany a few winters back. Those pinks, yellows and blues are what I love about Tuscany and today I got to revisit them again briefly.Morning in the Field, Fucecchio14×20″Oil on Linen© Kelly Medford, 2012The similarities for me are uncanny. There’s something special about the winter light in Italy, even if it’s not my favorite time of year.Winter here really makes me appreciate summer. That’s all I have to say about that. You can see or purchase today’s painting here on the website.See other paintings from the 120 Day Project hereJoin me in an upcoming painting workshop.Next scheduled 2-day workshop painting Rome cityscapes is December 15 &16Click here to find out about more about workshops.
