Day 82: In the Harbor
Boats! Yes, another boat. Who could have ever imagined all that is involved in painting a single boat in the harbor?First of all there is getting the drawing down, then the lights and shadows, the water, the reflections on the water and the little cables and ropes going everywhere. To get this down to a fine art/science, one would need to paint hundreds of these (minimum!) and I would too if I lived closer to the water. I just love how each boat has its own distinct personality. In the Harbor8×6″Oil on Panel© Kelly Medford, 2012I loved this little guy, it’s even for sale. He seemed so upright and sturdy, ready to ride and catch some fish. Here they don’t seem to name their boats like they do in other places. Maybe they just don’t name the little fishing boats, they’re too practical. You can buy today’s painting here from my website for $120.Thanks so much for following the 120 Day Project!UPDATE:I will be leaving for the mountains tomorrow and without internet for a week. I will post and pick up with the daily paintings where I left off as soon as I get back to civilization.
