Day 88: Out on the Rocks
I’ve always wanted to paint rocks at the sea here in Italy, but have either never dared or never taken the opportunity. Today there was no avoiding it. If I wanted to go to the beach, I was going to paint rocks. And this place is gorgeous; the rocks offer so many endless compositions. I can see why Monet painted them over and over again at different times of day and from different views. On the Rocks, Imperia6×8″Oil on Panel© Kelly Medford, 2012The sky was this indescribable color today. It wasn’t white or yellow or purple. It certainly wasn’t blue! What color was it? It was a white haze, but not even real white, just a haze. I interpreted it as a warm yellowish red sort of haze, just something that is going towards white and kind of hurts your eyes looking into it.I love how different it is here and am excited to get up tomorrow and paint something new, I have no idea what’s in store for tomorrow. You can buy today’s painting here for $120 from my website. Thanks so much for your interest in the 120 Day Project!
