Day 96: Friends in High Places
Now, it’s always good to have friends in high places, not that I’m into social climbing. Even better these friends live on the top floor with a wrap around terrace looking out to the hills of Rome.Breakfast on the Terrace, Centocelle6×8″Oil on Panel© Kelly Medford, 2012They’ve been inviting me for some time now to come over and paint since they moved in and I’m so glad I finally went. This is one of the neighborhoods I have really yet to paint and it’s an important one to get to.This neighborhood called Centocelle (a hundred cells) has the highest working class population in all of Rome. It’s most famous for Pasolini’s depictions of it in films and was also the protagonist in his novel Ragazzi di Vita. This is a great spot, aren’t they lucky to live here?! The best part is that when I was done painting they surprised me by having made lunch. We sat down at the table to enjoy some homemade pasta and to watch the hills of Rome in the distance. You can buy this painting here for $120 from my website. Thanks so much for following the project!
