Day 119: Morning in the Garden, Le Caldine
Today I’m painting in Tuscany with a friend and great painter Lisa Egeli. It’s great to be back on my old turf, painting here after having been in Rome for the last year and a half. The light is unique here, it has a bluish quality all its own and today we really had the chance to paint it at its best.Morning in the Garden, Le Caldine19×23 cmOil on PanelThis is the “garden” at a friend’s house up on a medium sized hill in the countryside just outside Florence. I really love how they just turned this area around the olive tree into a place to sit and watch the surrounding landscape, adorning it with a few potted plants to deliniate “the garden”.I chose this to paint for the vibrant complimentary colors, they really caught my attention. I wanted to play up the green contrasting with the red and the yellow of the olive tree with the purple of the mountain behind. That was my goal in this painting, to make it vibrate and sing in order to show the air of this little slice of heaven using complimentary colors.Today’s painting can also be seen or purchased here on my website.Stay tuned for more Tuscany!
