Day 96: Hayes Road
Today I really wanted to try something like I painted yesterday, only a little more complicated. And this was it, more complicated I mean, but also quite beautiful in the fast changing morning light. This road is about to be paved next week, which I’m kind of sad about. I like the sand road and the thickness of the trees along the road. I guess this is progress, and now I’ll just have to go a little further looking for back roads. I know I’ve said this before, but I really like the idea of painting also being a mode of documentation. I don’t imagine that there will be any more paintings of Hayes Road before it is paved, and so it will preserve a little bit of history of the area in a way.It was harder to place the values today in this painting, as I was out fairly early and the sun was moving fast, changing the patterns of light and shadow constantly. Still, I’m happy with my painting and will continue on this path. Practice, practice, practice! Even if it doesn’t make perfect, it definitely makes for more experience and learning about what it is I want to capture in paint. Thanks for following in the last days of the project, this is really fun!To buy today’s painting from the website, click here.
