Day 95: Morning on the Path

Day 95: Morning on the Path

I’m really excited about today’s painting, it’s a kind of breakthrough for me because it’s closer to what I’ve been trying to accomplish throughout the project. This morning when I found this spot and set up to paint, I told myself to slow down and take my time to really look at and decide about the composition. Then I worked slowly just putting in the darks and lights, back and forth, back and forth, relating each value to the other. I’m excited about the result, I feel that this is a successful painting, and now I’m even more excited about tomorrow’s painting.Doing this, painting each and every day,has making a good painting feel less like luck, but more about intention and clear focus. When I’m stressed or in a hurry maybe I don’t take all the time that I need to make the painting the best that I can, instead I let it be “okay” or “good enough,” which is obviously not what I’m going for here, but it does happen sometimes when I’m not completely focused.Seeing what I can accomplish when I am concentrated and willing to stay as long as it takes to make the painting work makes me see how I’m cheating both of us out of the best painting experience when I don’t give it my all and maybe stop before it’s the best that I know it can be.Thanks for listening, for reading along day after day. Without you here and all of your undying enthusiasm and support I don’t know where I would be. I can see now that no one is successful alone, it really does take an army (or a village or a community), just all of you. So thank you, thank you!To buy today’s painting for $100, click here.
