Day 86: Pole in the River
I was really excited about painting this today. This composition seemed different, more of a small window about the pole and it’s reflection, the light and dark windows through the trees. I realized that I’ve been choosing large scenes and trying to fit them on my tiny canvas, and not only is it tricky to do, but it’s not always as successful as a painting.Initially I was thinking that the pole would be even bigger, maybe taking up most of the canvas, but in looking at the surrounding trees, I decided to include them with the bit of the path as well.Today I feel excited about painting again, and I’m glad for it. I was able to think a little differently today about what a painting could be. It doesn’t always have to be a vast landscape, but can also be a little slice of the bigger picture and still be a painting in and of itself and interesting. To buy today’s painting for $100, click here.
