Day 67: The Kiosk, San Niccolò

Day 67: The Kiosk, San Niccolò

I was eyeing this spot a few weeks ago and had to be over this way this afternoon, so I stopped to paint here in the morning. In the summer this barely noticable park turns into a zoo, which Florence’s only “beach” below. This is a happening bar, which one would never guess now.I couldn’t believe the weather today, the wind was freezing and whipping up a storm. The clouds were moving at a high speed pace and it actually rained for about 10 minutes while I was painting even though the sun was shining. Today I really felt like my enthusiasm for the adventure that is landscape painting was waining. With the wind and rain and just the constantly changing light I really felt like painting a still life with a hot cup of tea in the comfort of my house. And with that said, once I got into the painting (and it stopped raining) I forgot about my complaints and did enjoy being outside. I always feel more alive in the end being outside and feeling a part of the world. To buy today’s painting for $100, click here.
