Day 53: John Deere
I felt really lucky today when I found this tractor, really! Not only have I been wanting to paint one, but I spent all morning looking for a place to paint. I even started another painting somewhere else and abandoned it halfway through, it just wasn’t working out and thought it better to cut my losses.
I walked and walked looking for something to catch my eye. I stopped in a park on the river, telling myself that I was being too picky and now was the time to find something and go for it, the bells were ringing all around meaning it was already noon. I then proceeded to walk all around the park, circling at least 3 times. I even called a friend to ask him what he was painting today. When he told me that he was in his studio working on a self-portrait, I knew that I had to find something and fast, I didn’t want to lose the whole day.
I decided to take a quick walk down by the river and if I didn’t see anything there that caught my eye then I would really just pick something in the park. When I walked down the path and turned the corner, here was my miracle, the John Deere.
I had a chance in the U.S. to paint a tractor, but I told myself that maybe it was just too silly, like a kid who loves to play with toy tractors. But this time today, I knew it was what there was to paint.
