Day 28: Road to Montecatini
This morning the heavy clouds were moving fast, I was sure it was going to rain at any moment all morning long. This spot caught my eye, so I turned around and went back. When I was walking through the field looking for my spot, I realized I had actually been here before, and so really it was no coincidence that I stopped here.It wasn’t very cold today, just wet, and so after an hour or so I started to feel the wet seeping in.This is the typical Florentine winter, not cold necessarily but wet, wet, wet.Today there were signs of spring, maybe the first buds on the trees, like I saw in Orlando last week.I wasn’t expecting this, but to tell the truth, I still feel out of sorts and still haven’t gotten a proper night’s sleep. Sometimes the time difference doesn’t have such and effect, but this time it has really taken hold. I hope to be back to normal tomorrow.Even if I wasn’t feeling 100 per cent, I did enjoy my time out in the field painting this! I loved the simplicity of the landscape, and in Italy, the landscape is always so manicured and organized, it’s just not something that we really see in the U.S., so it’s fascinating to me. It’s an interesting mix of wild and manicured, controlled and left alone. This will be the first of many Italian/ Tuscan landscapes. There is nothing quite like the moody fog of winter, so I hope to have the chance to paint some more of these landscapes and to really capture their mood. In the meantime it’s great to stay connected with you wherever you are…To buy this painting for $100 (+ shipping) follow this link https://kellymedford.com/works/408758To view or buy other paintings from the 100 day project click here www.kellymedford.com/worksI encourage you to share this project with friends and family: the more the merrier!
