Day 8: After Dinner in the Dining Room
I’ve always wanted to paint interiors but have shied away from them for fear of not being able to handle all the complicated drawing. Here is my first attempt in the dining room. This really is just a sketch, not a finished painting like I said I would do. I apologize, and it’s not really what I committed to do. This was a challenge for me and I enjoyed it. The important thing is to paint what catches my attention, something that I’m inspired by, even if I don’t quite know how. It’s funny, I was sure I was a landscape painter when I started this project, yet in these first 8 days I’ve painted so many non-landscapes, and in my opinion the stronger paintings are not landcapes. So what does that mean?? Really, I’ve had to paint in the evenings for various reasons, but it’s brought me new insights, challenges and good material that I hadn’t anticipated.Even though I feel like I have so much to say, I do want to keep it short(ish). I really want to thank you for taking the time to follow my project. All of your comments and emails have just been so awesome, you totally inspire me and please, keep them coming! At this point I can honestly say that I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, and that I am really looking forward to it. You can buy this painting or others for $100 from the 100 Day Project from my website by following this link https://kellymedford.com/works. And please feel free to share the project with friends and family. You can subscribe to the newsletter here https://kellymedford.com/email-newsletter or follow it on here on my blog.

February 1, 2010 at 5:29 pmI rather like it. You’ve done a great job of capturing the reflections in the glass and the feeling of the room. I should have put some pretty flowers on the table for you. Thanks for trying something new!
