Day 4: Reading Chair

Day 4: Reading Chair

You know that place in your house where no one really goes or hangs out unless you have company? Maybe this place doesn’t exsist in your house, but it always did in mine growing up. This place, also known as the living room, has always seemed isolated and foreign, as if it weren’t totally part of the house. Recently though I find solace in this place and like to read under the one light leaving the rest of the room dark. Most recently I reread Othello in this spot (and remembered just how awesome and timeless Shakespeare is), and I saw it fitting to paint this place as we went to see a good production of Hamlet tonight. I wanted to capture the intimacy of that special reading place by contrasting the warmth of the light with the coldness of the surrounding dark. Seeing as it’s winter, what better place is there to be in the evenings?

I keep coming back to Shakespeare too! Cara and I just went to see As You Like It.

    Loving the paintings.
